3 Post Moderation Rule for New Boarders (25 Jan 2021)
New boarders will have their posts moderated - Don't worry if you cannot see your post immediately.
10.2.3 (or 10.3) waiting :)
I am not feeling the love, why Apple has to threaten with taking the ball home because someone said something nice about the product on open forum is as Wes Plate said, "Spending it's reputation in a very bad way", Apple does zero marketing about this 3 tiny apps, it is up to us the very users to sell the apps, to speak of it's greatness and Apple reward us with a threat???
Explain why the NDA is a good thing, if you have something to show, be proud of it, and let the users speak of it, unless what they showed is only a demo and will never see the light of day!!
Apple is doing itself harm in this stupid attitude, and users are getting sick of it!

I´m with Justine on this one: Peter only wanted the discussion about send to motion closed...at least that´s what i understood.
That´s how far i agree with her.
Yes, I am a bit disappointed that we did not see an update around NAB too. And i am sad that I could not go to NAB to see what they showed in person.
On the other hand i´d rather have them take their time and do things the way they did before: Adding new features that are rock solid and better thought through!
FCPX is working just fine as it is now. And if the implement all the things i would like to see implemented ... there would be nothing to look forward too anymore.

100% agreed!Tom Wolsky wrote: Then perhaps MsJustine should get back to the point of the thread, which is supposedly about FCP updates, and not about Apple and its customer relations.

Agreed. I've subscribed to this thread on the subject of the next update - easy enough to start another thread.
In the meantime I'm earning money with FCPX as it is now so I'm happy.

Now it appears Siri is in trouble for violating her NDA by disclosing the date for WWDC 2016 prior to official Apple public release.
It is rumored that Tim Cook is having words with her
Apple has now had to release the dates due to her leaks.
If you want to go, apply now. It is really a lottery for available space.
New updates on some Apple products now showing up at Apple Store, MacBook and MB air.
Sorry don't mean to hi-jack thread, but if Siri in trouble for NDA violation…

Add more function-New aspects of workflow, like when 3d text was added, that was new, we never had 3d text in FCP as standard, now we do, and we are happy.
Add more function-add for example remove attributes, send to motion [sorry]. I agree we need tiny things to be sorted as well as new things added, a hard task to carry out.
Improve the homepage of FCPX, when you say in action, have video, not a boring 2000 word essay that speaks of nothing, written by a public/marketing student for $50!!
Improve the white ball function.
Improve the clip connection so that a clip connects to a upper "level" clip-not to the primary storyine.
Improve secondary storyline, so that it functions 100% as a storyline not the 50% it does now!
Add sliders for audio, I know some hate sliders, I love them [sorry]
Have colored sections, to indicate storylines, edited/needing to edit.
Improve or add a 2nd timecode reader, so that you can find a clip duration, set that in the 1st timecode, so you have an idea of clip ranges as you drag a range on a clip in the browser.
Scrolling timeline, the new improvements to Resolve make it in many ways almost more efficient than FCPX.
Apple is looking down the barrel of dropping users when you see just what Resolve 12.5 can do, Resolve is working very hard to compete against Apple for the best NLE, it has faults, the number one being trackbased, but for how long??
My point is, the users are restless, becoming annoyed/frustrated about the lack of communication, look Resolve has almost zero feedback, the Blackmagic Design forum is really poor, Apple's own is on par.
All of this and the paranoia makes me a bit worried, it should not be like that, something has happened to Pro Apps at Apple and sorry it makes me concerned, and I express my concern here!!

Also, finding more FCPX users are totally unaware and not utilizing much of the amazing functionality that already exists. Advanced training is sorely needed. Many folks want functions that already exist.
I've had LOTS of folks ask me where to find trained, experienced FCPX editors, say they're hard to find. Yep, jobs are in fact out there.
Just personal observation talking directly to dozens of users, and many potential users, boots on the ground, not talking hypotheticals. FCPX user base is growing, is very healthy.
And in the time spent on the negative rants, I got 4 paying jobs networking with other FCPX professionals.

1. Since this wasn't an update released for NAB, I wonder if it will coincide with new Mac Pros later. Possibly WWDC or around then.
2. What are some actual workflows where a round-trip to motion is needed? Every time I think about it now, I just think about the complexity of where the media would need to live that makes sense with Motion and the library. I think what West made is great and it solves an issue with getting something out to Motion. But the people list the "round-trip" feature because it was a feature in studio? Publishing parameters seems to solve a lot of things that people used the old round-trip for IMHO.

Are you at least going to be able to tell us if there are going to be a lot of new features, and if they are worth waiting for?
By the way what's happened to Disproportionate Pictures? Where has he gone? Please Log in to join the conversation.

too sad, I bet only 'symbolic' sums...
A 100%, Apple will NOT hop onto the VR hype.
3rd party plugins? Why not...
AR?
Probably.
A car?
No way. (an 'OS' for a car? pretty sure!)

Roundtripping between FCP7 and Motion has never been perfect. What Wes has created is already a huge step forward compared with how it used to be with FCP7. Improvements are always a good thing.
And Ben has raised an interesting point.
I totally agree that the lack of experienced FCP X editors is becoming more important than the matter of what will be the next features in the application.
- In the past year I have seen a very high-profile documentary being moved from FCP X to Avid due to the lack of expert FCP X editors in Paris.
- A Warner division I work with has added Avid to their editing setup, which used to be exclusively FCP X, simply because they couldn't find enough qualified FCP X editors anymore for their growing production needs.
- A veteran Hollywood editor has done the DIT for his latest feature film himself because he wanted to use FCP X and he couldn't find any experienced FCP X Assistant Editors in Mississippi.
And I can give you many more examples that confirm what Ben is saying. You will easily find dozens of FCP7, Avid or Premiere editors who are desperately looking for a job. But truly experienced high-end FCP X editors are becoming very scarce. Because the big jobs done in FCP X are growing exponentially at this moment, but it's hard to find editors that are qualified for these jobs.
Of course this will change over time, seeing how fast the FCP X user base is growing. But until then I would advise everyone to spend your time truly exploring the possibilities that exist in the application right now. Because there will be a lot of work for people who truly know all aspects of FCP X. I think learning thoroughly what's already in there is much more useful than speculating about what may or may not come
