There's no doubt Motion needs a bit of a push in development but to describe it as backward is not fair IMHO.
I've given up sending requests for Motion blur phase adjustment in Motion so tracked objects with motion blur are in phase with the background plate. I hope they'll get round to it.
Last year I did a very last minute job that required me to build many complex VJ Loops based on a record label's house cover art op-art style. I was able to setup, animate and export over a hundred complex loops in about 4 days. I don't know how I could've done it without Motion's Replicators and Behaviours all playing back in the viewport in realtime. The level of realtime feedback made the creation of different versions for different BPMs a breeze.
Anyway to the future of FCPX. As much as I love Motion standalone I would love FCPX and Motion to be combined into a super App. I have often wanted trackers and behaviours etc in FCPX without having to create Motion Templates and of course not all functionality of Motion can be captured in the current template system. I think this would give Plugin developers more firepower to take the FCPX platform forward further and quicker.
I'd like to see FCPX adopt Resolve's Rooms style approach with Edit, Motion, Audio Editing and Compressor Rooms. I'd like Plug-ins to be able to have their own room and plugin authors able to create their own first class UI e.g. Color Finale having its own room layout and custom controls instead of the popup window.
It would be useful if the Audio Editing Room could have a track based view and the user be able to switch from the magnetic timeline of the Edit Room to the Track based approach of the Audio Room and vice versa. Think of it like an automated realtime XtoPro workflow but staying in FCPX.
That's my tuppence worth...
Now can anyone spill the beans on Color Finale Pro?

It was a spectacular read Thomas! You are doing great things for the reputation FCPX editors, I've had a lot of problems with people not taking us seriously and people like you are changing the game. Until a year ago I was forced to do everything in Avid, now people have lowered their guard a bit and accept that the result is the only thing that matters. Your tutorials are also appreciated.
Last year I had to edit a video that was supposed to be projected around the entire room for a museum exhibition. It was a very weird aspect ratio. The height of projection was 1m, and width was around 20m (on all walls), at the time I could only do that with FCPX. It is so liberating, it completely opened up video art and erased a lot of restraints that used to exist.

I too wonder what happened to Disproportionate Pictures. I always enjoyed his little diagrams and charts about roles and release dates.
Maybe he got hired by Apple to run the FCPX division and can't post here anymore? Maybe he got run over by a bus and is dead? You never can tell with message boards.

Perhaps he's under NDA for something and just finds it easier to be invisible for a bit otherwise us snarly hunters of secret info might be snapping at his heals. Just my speculation.

Would be relatively easy to implement and a useful workflow addition unique to FCPX.
Clips in the event browser accepting effects.
There are some aspects already inherited one-way and we even have log processing which is linked to the original asset even if changed in a timeline or subclip...
So the functionality is there.
I miss this quite often and if I remember right it was possible in FCP Studio though it was implemented in a confusing manner.
