On average 91 days between updates, give or take 30 days or so. I think that shows Apple is not on an update schedule, but releasing things when they're done. The next update will get here when it gets here. I'm sure the next one will be interesting.

I think when we see OSX 10.11.2, we'll then see FCPX 10.2.3.

So Adobe started their update engines. We got a big update to Resolve editing features.

Time for us I think :)

So Apple isn't accepting app store updates from 18th on.
That leaves us with less then two weeks for an update.

It's awfully quiet so does anyone know more? :)

The usual phrase....

Those who know don't tell.
Those who tell don't know.

Will be interesting, wether the next version is a 'maintenance' update, or it has new eye-candy, such as the 3Dstuff lately..... I guess, for my lil' hobbyist needs, the next 2-3 versions don't offer any special, colloboration/audio/codecs is all beyond me .......

What I really want in some future update is for multicam, compound, audition, and synchronized clips to behave like normal clips. I want to be able to stabalize the clips in the timeline, currently I have to open each clip in it's timeline, then blade an in and out point, then I have to drag the bladed point past the point where the clip is no longer used, then I have to stabalize that portion of the clip.

I would also like to be able to finalize multicam clips, but if they can just act like normal clips, I wouldn't need that as much, but it would still be nice for round-tripping situations.

OS X 10.11.2 is out, NOT holding my breath. It'll get here when it gets here. No use worrying.

10.11.2 seems to have fixed the timecode window bug for me at least.

Is that all this issue is? ... the reference for HR, MIN, SEC and FR are offset or out of alignment?

Is the readout of the timecode itself accurate? If so, I can't see how this is a devastating problem ... a problem indeed, but I can't believe I have been holding off on El Cap for such a minor detail ...

As long as the info presented is correct ... I don't care if the underlying text is askew ... under normal view on a 21.5" iMac or a 13" Macbook Air ... at normal viewing distance, my old eyes can't read those characters without assistance anyway ...

It's never been a problem. It's always been purely a cosmetic thing. Sometimes a one pixel streak will appear through the TC display. That comes and goes. I have never found anything wrong with the TC display itself.

I confess I never noticed it until someone pointed it out to me. I look at the numbers not the subtext.

I'll second that, for me FCPX 10.2.2 in El cap has been incredibly stable. I honestly don't remember the last time it crashed... There are only a few cosmetic glitches, sadly I can only remember the timecode one right now, but I know there was anouther. haha

Also, I just updated to El Cap 10.11.2, and am experiencing the same timecode glitch.

Otherwise, no change in stabilities.

Interesting, the timecode window thing was fine when I first opened FCPX after the update. Then I opened it again to start a new project and the bug was there again. Lame.

An OS X update doesn't necessarily do anything for individual apps. Nothing was fixed in this one that FCPX really relies on heavily. I have noticed that since 10.11.1, LPX opens WWWAAAYYYY FFAASSTTEERR, and is much more stable. But, eh, updates come when updates come, keep calm, keep working.

I strongly agree with this. Also optical flow and tracking plugins like SliceX don't work in multicam or sync'd clips. Premiere Pro CC has no problem stabilizing, doing optical flow smoothing, or motion tracking on multicam clips.

I don't understand why these deficiencies are not discussed more frequently. E.g, on FCP.TV.com, he lists the top *100* needed improvements in FCP X. Making stabilization, audition and optical flow work on multicam/compound/sync'd clips was not in the top 100 items.

At least some of the Focus guys mentioned this briefly.

The complicated workarounds required are antithetical to the very premise of FCP X. Maybe the next update will address this.

I've always liked Apple because of their focus on all the little details, but they just haven't been hitting it on the software side for some time.

FCPX is what I started editing with and I've really burnt out on editing over the past year. I'm not really interested in editing with another editing program, I'd rather just not edit anymore. But even FCPX is just so tedious to use at points as well, especially when finishing a project or having to deal with multicam, sync, or compound clips.

The issues that I have with FCPX are issues I have to deal with on every edit, they are basic things that should have been addressed by now. I would rather have compound clips etc. work like normal clips than have a robust 3D text novelty option.

I'm still waiting for FCPX to take advantage of Siri and built in dictation so I can stop transcribing my interview footage.

I don't think the 18th applies to Apple. In 2013, they released a big update on the 19th.

I've been thinking someone on the team wants to get an update out that takes care of the visual glitch before 2016 gets here. But who knows if the next update is 10.2.3 or 10.3. Maybe there was just too much to fit inside a 2015 release and the timecode layout will wait until they have everything else finished up. Or maybe things were just busy elsewhere and the timecode window wasn't worth an update just yet.

It's Dec 21 so we will see if something drops before Dec 31. (Fingers crossed)
