Ah didn't know that.
But if it is in 2016 I hope it will be a new years gift :)

That "novelty option" just helped sell a concept for a commercial for a 100 million $$ + movie coming out next year. Another version was done in C4D and AE. The Motion/FCPX version looked better, so that's what we submitted. The spot may never happen, but the presentation went really well. It's hardly a novelty.

Consider that Apple gives their employees a long holiday break, so if there is nothing by tomorrow (Dec 22), we probably won't see anything until into Feb, earliest. Just guessing. But, we're all just guessing. Wake up, flip a coin, hope for the best.

Blackmagic released another update to resolve in the app store.
So maybe there's still hope for a Christmas gift from apple?

Oh, they're all packing up in a few hours to go home for the holidays. I'd be willing to bet that we won't see anything until late Jan or early Feb at the very earliest.

Yeah, but I thought I remember that 10.1 came out around this time in 2013. Right?

Not the day they all got off early for the holidays. Only half day today at Cupertino, and many of them use vacation and sick time to take off more than the week they get for Christmas. So don't expect anything for the next few weeks. I'd be shocked if an update was released while everyone was gone on holiday.

Yeah, bummer. I was hoping to get an update before the end of this year.

I have a notice for beta testers that the program will pretty much be on hold until they return January 4th. So, it'd be some time after that before another update. Don't hold your breath, it'll be released when it is released, the FCPX dev team has no "deadline" to meet. Rather they take time to get it right, rather than go fast and half-assed.

That would be a great idea. For me I would love to be able to select a range of clips, by color or by role and solo these, and have the clips play one after another instead of waiting for the playhead to reach the next clip...After all I solo'ed for a reason, to play in real time the clips separated by time and have to wait makes no sense....That would speed up editing so so much!!!

I know that it can not be known in advance, but are now almost 3 months 10.2.2. and so they should place on the market the new version.
thank you.

great idea it would be nice, as on premiere pro where you can change the color of the video and audio tracks.

Actually it's closer to 4 months. The longest has been 5 months. So it depends on what you mean by very close. Tomorrow? Maybe. Statistically Tuesday's a favorite day for updates.

This one? ;)

I'm curious when they'll jump to 10.3 - whether it's based on a time or development roadmap.

The full point releases seem to be tied to OS compatibility. 10.1 was Mavericks. 10.2 Yosemite. 10.1 was a December release. 10.2 in April at NAB.

Well, I start a HUGE, ongoing project with multiple editors in March, and am hoping for a MAJOR upgrade release by mid-Feb. Give us time to test it out, a bug update to be released. I'd hate for something to be released that would help us out, mid-season.

That said, we have to plan our workflow with the current version, which works quite well. Not holding my breath for anything. It'll arrive when it arrives, and I'll worry about it then. Too much work to get done today.
