That might be pretty close to every single plugin they make :)
I have plugins from more than 30 different vendors, among them several heavy synths and other software instruments. Some of these companies are probably better at coding than others. Have some Waves plugins myself and they are working fine here too.
I have to admit that I myself have not tested every single AU plugin one at the time in FCPX in my set up. It is indeed a rather time-consuming process and as I don't need any third party AU´s working in FCPX (I make the more demanding mixes in Logic Pro) I don¨t want to go through the hassle ;)

Curious... how does one do a clean install of Yosemite when the App store is needed to download and install it? The only way I can think of is to clone your hard drive, boot from it, erase the internal flash SSD and then download and install Yosemite to that drive. Is this the method y'all are using?

Actually it is super easy. Take a look at the instructions from apple.

OSX Daily has directions on How to Make an OSX Yosemite Boot Installer USB Drive. Just search OSX Daily. Sorry I could not provide a link.

I did a clean install of FCPX and Yosemite and I've been adding everything back slowly and testing after each addition. I've had FCPX not shut down a few times yesterday but it's only occasional and only started when I installed LUT Utility, so i'd definitely be starting with a plugin-free FCPX if you're having issues.

Doing it while booted off a clone or other drive, even off another computer using target disk mode, is the best way I think. You can do a clean erase and install using the recovery partition and an Internet connection, but it's incrediblly slow. The couple of times I've done it are in the six to 10 hour range. A USB stick also works, but jump drives are also incredibly slow as well, and you're running an OS and the installer off the jump drive.

Tom,

I've done a number of the clean installs or repair installs from the recovery partition and it works very well, typically completing in about an hour. I guess it depends on the internet connection.

@RealPlayer93:

I have been able to track down why FCP X would not quit properly on this one system. As Greg said, it had to do with plugins. I ran a debug while launching FCP X and I got two errors: one with an FX Factory plugin not launching and one with the Lock&Load framework not being detected correctly.

I disabled the problematic FxFactory plugin (Story Pop) in the FxFactory app, then I went to the Plugins > FxPlug folder and I saw I had three installs of Lock&Load inside that folder. These installs were from an old version which became obsolete since I installed the full C2 package including L&L. I trashed the old Lock&Load folders.

Then I launched FCP X and since then it quits perfectly, even after multiple launches and quits. So yes, it's a plugin issue.

Good to know Ronnie, Thanks
Hope this helps RealPlayer.
Anyone having wifi/bluetooth issues?
Lots of Apple forum activity about wifi dropping out repeatedly with Yosemite update.
Thanks, Greg

Hi,

I haven't read through this entire topic, so I don't know if this problem has been discussed, but since I upgraded to Yosemite, I have like 3 video effects, no generators, no themes and no titles showing in the browser(s). Audio effects and transitions seem to be all there. Has anyone else encountered this, or does anyone have a solution?

Thanks.

Try holding down Option+Command when launching FCPX, and tell it to trash the pref files. See if that helps.

Greg

The only bluetooth issue I have had is with my Magic Mouse. The strange part is that It never drops on my iMac but it does on my MBP.

Nope, trashing the pref files didn't work. Thanks anyway. Any other ideas, anyone?

After some careful re-installig and testing I have found that it is Sharing that was causing FCPX to become unresponsive. I can reproduce this at will although there may be more so my testing continues. Just to save people reading back through the thread, this is on a stock 6-core 2013 Mac Pro with a clean install of everything.

Anyway, with either File Sharing or Screen Sharing turned on, FCPX starts scrubbing sluggishly, and the JKL keys are either delayed or non-responsive.

There is another thing broken with Compressor and Yosemite:
It's the command line control. Prior to 10.10 you were able to send a whole bunch of files to compressor (or a cluster for faster processing).
I've tried on 2 machines each first with an updated version, then with a clean install.

The issue is confirmed by others.

I know this is not an issue for the majority of users but for those who are affected it's a NO GO for Yosemite.

Just to show you really do roll the dice when you update early and why beta testing never catches all the bugs - my Mac Pro issue mentioned above only happens when I have file sharing enabled *and* I have my AVID Fast Track Duo audio interface connected via an MBeat 7-port USB 3 hub.

It's the combination. I have two hard drives and a card reader plugged into the MBeat hub and all is well. At the same time I have the AVID box plugged straight into the back of the Mac Pro and no issue. But plug the AVID into the MBeat hub and bye bye FCPX.
