Since I took off DaVince Resolve Lite I haven't had the issue. It is defiantly DaVince related.
But I will gibe a try tomorrow when I hit back to the cave (Studio).

Morning morning, I just installed the latest and greatest version of DaVinci Resolve 11 on one of the Mac Pro (Late 2013) with OS X 10.10.1... and the error message did not show. It also started up and seems to function has should.
Try uninstalling it and reinstall see what the brings?
Cheers

My issue is that some .mov clips would not play. I tried opening them in QTX and VLC and they won't play. After some searching I dl QT7 and they will open in QT7 and if I re-save them, they are fine. The thing is that if I go through my hd's and find a whack of clips that need to be resaved this would be time consuming. Has anybody run into this issue? I could leave some old projects alone but would like to fix this issue that is fixable now, that may not be after future updates. MBP Late 2010.

Anyway, I am having major problems with FxFactory plugins, specifically, the Motype generators, since I updated to Yosemite. They simply refuse to render all the way through, and crash my system. The computer tells me the "FxFactory plugin 'Patches' has crashed," which seems to be located in Library > Graphics > Quartz Composer Plug-Ins ƒ.
I've tried everything from using only Proxy clips to trashing prefs, restarting, fixing user permissions, not stacking the generators over each other....but even fully rendering one throws my computer into such a bind that it has begun crashing the whole system. Actually freezing the Mac--which nothing usually does.
Such a shame...I just shelled out a bunch of loot for three new FxFactory bundles. And was shooting for a deadline I'm sure I"m going to miss now.
Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
Two monitors, 8 TB

UPDATE:
After some more playing around, crashing, trying different things etc... It seems that perhaps the Yanobox Motype plugins from FxFactory are not the problem, themselves; nor the combination with Yosemite, necessarily. The rendering and freezing issues definitely arise when using the "Blur" generators, tho. Ex: "Motype Long Trailing Blur" and "Motype Rotational Blur" are two. Being so beautiful, they clearly are highly intensive. I suppose on top of the other effects I am using on the video clips underneath (slowed timing combined with some fx), it is just too much for my machine, perhaps.
Funny...I thought shelling out for a big ole Mac Pro with 24 GB of RAM would put me in the clouds, far beyond such mortal concerns! Silly me.

After much stressing and crashing and trial and error, I managed to finish the commercial spot, and on deadline, too. Whew.
To answer the question, yes. I am current on updates on all apps. This tendency of mine to update fast carries across the board. Often, it means fixes; sometimes it means bugs.
I think I was just stressing my CPU. I can stack two non-blur Motype generators on top of a clip (with some heavy processing being done on it already due to effects and timing), but the blur variety cannot be double stacked without crashing. I can do one blur generator by itself on the timeline, but if I try to stack another, or do it over too complex a clip, I get crashing etc.
Even finishing up the entire piece, sometimes I'd crash out of the blue. But I just opened up back up, and went at it again. Being careful.
I am guessing that I am now back at a point where the computer needs to be babied. It's been a while. It's a pretty powerful computer...but it's 2015, not mid-2010 anymore. Despite the dual core processor and the huge amount of RAM I have, the new FCPX and the new generators on top of the intensely manipulated clips I am known for have led me to a point, again, where if I add too much stress on top of it all, it comes down.
Reminds me of trying to use the first FCP on my old Mac 9600. Well. Not that bad! I'm being dramatic.
Thanks.

Well, in my case anyway, it has been safe to update to Yosemite since the public beta.

I think that some people have reported some bugs here and there, but non that have stopped any major workflow.
