If it is one new feature. Got to be audio roles related editing. With that patent from a while back and seemingly on 95% of users lists as the main thing FCPX still doesn't handle well. I think if they add in a good audio mixer then the app is pretty much complete bar small things.
It is a way to measure light output from a tv it seems, I heard of lux, candlepower, and a few other units of measure, news to me about nits!! I guess someone enjoyed the nit nurse too much!!
Ask Larry to explain, he was there, he say things, spoke to people, as for updates, sliders for audio, a must!!
Zoom into the waveform when in listview mode, to be able to select ranges more accurately.
Save workspace setup, I go to the trouble of moving stuff around to fit, I want to be able to set that up as a default, then have a 2nd set up for maybe better ranging in the browser, like we had in classic...that is my number 1 wish..save workspace UI

let me google that for you
nit is a unit measuring luminance, for example from a display ...
small number=dark display, high number=bright display
to create a High Dynamic Range, you need as dark as possible blacks => compare 40y ago, Sony with its smart invention of the Triniton mask, and bright as possible whites => a brighter backlight (which can go off within splits of milliseconds, that is the tricky part)

I'd love plugins to be able to create their own workspaces, how much better would CF be if it had its own first class workspace and wasn't limited to a popup window? How much further could plugin developers take FCPX forward?
Thanks for Googling that for me. I did Google 'Nits' but the results were all about headlice. You need to know that it has something to do with luminance and then Google 'Nits' and 'Luminance' together to get any relevant results. ( I initially missed MsJustines original post. ) I'm familiar with cd/m2 for measuring luminance but not Nits - more something for engineers and technicians maybe? - I'm just an editor. To be honest I totally regret even mentioning it because I have soo much work to do.
Custom workspaces - I'd like a short cut key to maximize window mouse is over. be so handy. Also someway of relinking templates as that's so painful at times when moving between systems or sharing with others who have plugins installed in different places. Relinking the dropzone videos as well.

Not sure why Apple signed everyone up to NDA seems like it's designed to create speculation more than anything. I don't keep a note of when the features arrived in the updates I just get on and use FCPX but it does feel a longish time since a big feature was added.
Did Apple vet people before giving them access to the presentation? I could imagine a load of competitors' employees getting in an happily signing an NDA only to report back to HQ. If they didn't vet people then I suspect the NDA thing is just classic marketing games.
Maybe new FCPX features require the next OS which is going to have more Siri integration. Siri auto adding keywords to clips or Siri search for clips with phrases in them. I've sent Feature requests for this some time ago so I take all the credit if this happens...
NDA was because in order to show a feature film workflow, the studio that owns the film, demanded no one take photos, video, or talk about the production methods used. Can't even name the studio, but they were most of the reason for the NDA. Just like last year. And that is not unusual. Many seminars are done under NDA at the professional level. I teach them often myself for my clients.
No one was vetted before the presentation, that's really reaching for the absurd.
I can say nothing was mentioned about a new OS X version at all.
I can also say, those who were there will attest that the future for us is very bright and exciting. If you don't get that, I'm sorry, speculate on baseless assumptions all you want.
And yes, those of us who attended were asked what we saw, we didn't come here to tease. We post the little we can to give hope about a very bright and very exciting future for our beloved application.
