WTF does that mean? Seriously! If something spectacular is happening off screen, shouldn't you be focusing your story on it? Otherwise, what the hell does that mean? That's the most non-sense sentence I ever read about film making.
I would honestly like a realistic explanation for that response.
At least he admits the over use of lens flares was only to give him a unique look, and had nothing to do with the story. It was done "cause it looks cool". The exact reason to NOT do something in a film.
Geez, what happened to intelligence and education?
