I add effects like flicker free and neat video at the end of a project because they are processor killers.

I added the above and then realised I wanted to go back and make a few more edits. To do this at a decent pace, I have to disable both these effects. They are on 75% of my timeline.

How can I disable them in a few clicks? Do my edits, and then reenable them.

I try highlighting them all and then going to inspector and unchecking the boxes, but this doesn't work. I cannot "edit, remove attributes" because this completely removes them all and I would then have to go back later and place them all again.

There must be a way to do this with a few simple clicks? Or do I have to drudge through the entire timeline, deselecting (and then later reselecting the effects)??

Thank you !

While I don't use Neat Video or Flicker Free on 75% of my timeline, I nonetheless frequently encounter this situation myself. It is a real pain to track down and disable them one by one. Then if you forget to re-enable one, you have to do that, re-render and re-export, which takes a long time. If anyone has a suggestion I'd like to hear it.

Obviously you want background rendering off, but even with that off, the timeline is almost unusably slow with effects like these or Imagenomic Portraiture -- even on a 10-core Vega 64 iMac Pro using proxy mode.

If you have an effect on most of the timeline maybe you should use an adjustment layer.
I think it would be better.

That doesn't work for this case. Each application of the effect on each clip has specific adjustments.

Since there is XML with FCP there is my X-FX Handler.
It will do what you need.

Amazing that an editing software as advanced as FCPX has no basic method for switching off and turning on effects across multiple clips...

There must be a reason for this... ?
