First of all: borrowed the idea, and thought “hmm, why not as a free plug-in?”

It is labeled as ‘b1’ - I don’t have any flickered material at hand, for testing I dl the one used in the original tutorial, which is 24fps:

Not sure, wether it needs individual versions for 25fps and 30fps (it shouldn't) … PLEASE share some feedback… And, please tell, wether you notice any flicker every 10secs … the Effect is set to a loop, but due to its tech, the first 1-2 frames are not deflickered. If so, I will adjust its length to 30? secs …

As mentioned in the original tut, it has its limitations … but, hey, for free? Just try …

After DL, un-zip and install, you find it in your Effects Tab; in the Inspector I published a Sharpen Effect, which is also mentioned in the OP…

Happy movie making!

Hey thanks for this.
This is really useful and a great idea.

After dropping this into "Effects" folder in Motion templates i am getting the dreaded red screen yellow traingle error in Final Cut pro. Dont understand why its not working?

Thanks.

….

I'm using the latest version of Motion, 5.4, which demands the 'corresponding' version of FCPX, 10.4 …

sorry, you have to update ;)

Unfortunately it's not very consistent and I think it's due to the stretchable nature of an effect and timing. Even on a short 2 sec clip, the effect doesn't kick in until frame 3, and then the next layer still kicks in only 1 frame later on frame 4, so you end up with an uneven frame repetition. When I followed the tutorial, it actually looked pretty passable. Given, I gave it some tough footage. Some guys in a warehouse with a conveyor belt of boxes moving quickly in the foreground, so it's very easy to see the duplicates. BUT when they're evenly spaced, it looks pretty normal. I think I had a similar issue with my smooth strobe effect and I forget how I fixed it. Will have to revisit and see.

Did a little testing and turns out turning on motion blur will accomplish the same thing. And it doesn't have the delayed start / loop issue.
