This is great. However, when I extend the duration of the split screen effect in the timeline and drop a clip onto the drop zone, only the first 10 seconds of the clip (stretched to the entire length I have extended it to) are used. Is there something I can do about this?
It's because the title uses build in and build out markers to facilitate the split animating in and out. Anything between build markers is set in stone, anything animated is slowed down/speeded up if the title is lengthened or shortened. I've looked into how to get this not to affect drop zones in the past and came up with nothing, I would love to hear if anyone finds a way.
What's you'll see if you look close is that your 10 second clip doesn't actually play slow for the full length of the title, it will start and end at normal speed (while the split is animating in and out) and play slow between the markers, or fast if you shorten its length.
I've requested/suggested a number of ideas to Apple about interesting ways that this could be worked, but I'm sure they're somewhere very near the bottom of their feature request list.
To make this title work with a length of video in the drop zone other than what fits the default duration you'd need to remove the animations for the motion project and publish their parameters to be animated with keyframes in FCPX by the editor.
It will work with still images or clips the same as the titles default length.
