Hi everybody,
I'm looking for some effect that simulate the Tap and Pitch effect that we usualy do on a iPad.
I explain better: I recorded a movie directly from my iPad and know I need to evidence the moment I touched the screen or i pitched a picture to resize.
Is there any effect that do that?

Thanks to all

Paolo

I created this exact for a training company about two years ago. I used Motion, and made FCPX generators. This is very general, but here goes.

For swipes, make a custom frame size project to match the iPad screen (I forget what that is). This helps with aspect ratio and such, as a standard 720 or 1080 will give you problems matching these up to an iPad screen later in the edit. We learned that the hard way.

Then I used plain filled circle shapes with very fast fade in/out. I also added a "tail" to the dots that grows and shrinks at it moves, to exaggerate the movements. I did one and exported it as a ProRes 4x4 (to retain alpha). Then I can simply add as many as I need (two for pinch, three/four for swipes), and rotate as needed for direction.

I duplicated this Motion project and did one that just comes in and out quickly for a tap. So I had two generators, one of swipes, one for taps.

Hi BenB,
thanks for you reply.
I don't use Motion, and I'm not sure to have understood what you wrote (I'm italian).
I don't know if is possible in this forum (and also for you), but is possible for you to send me the generators you created?

In any case, don't worry and thank you cery much.

Paolo

I did them under contract to a client, so no, I can't share them. You're going to have to learn Motion, IMHO.

Although I seem to remember someone doing third party commercial generators you could buy with fingers or something, for this purpose. Don't remember where I saw that, or if it is even still around any longer. That was a couple years ago.
