Recommend a New Media Drive? was created by -ND4SPD-
Currently I have the following on my 2011 MBP
1st Drive = 256 Crucial SSD System Drive.
2nd Drive = Internal 1TB Samsung 5200rpm HDD (replacing the optical bay).
3rd Drive = External 4TB G-Drive.
This is the 2nd Samsung SpinPoint HD that's gone out on me in 2 years. I'd like to upgrade to something a bit faster as well.
Budget is under $200. What are some recommendations? This drive will hold my active FCPX media & Lightroom galleries.

I'd like the speed of a 7200rpm drive for my media but I've heard people talk about how that uses more battery. Seeing as how I'm running two drives (granted one is SSD), I'm already using more battery. I figure using a hybrid I can get the speed without the power consumption.
Of course this is all speculation so hard data or those with experience would be helpful. Thanks

FWIW I inserted a Crucial M500 480gb yesterday into my macbook pro 2010, 8gb ram.. its a rapid difference, photoshop opens in 4 seconds! i will always be limited due to the older graphics and video card
