If we set up, say, 4 Mac Mini's, it's my impression that Compressor can automatically distribute rendering between them, right?

It sounds great and the the editing machines will be kept fully available for editing.

But how about the "downsides" - why doesn't "everyone" use this way of encoding? Seems to me that there must be some kind of caveat ?

What are your thoughts about this?

Only some codecs benefit, network speed is a bottleneck, etc.
