How to connect firewire camera to MBP was created by Durb
I have a legacy video camera that uses a firewire to connect to computer. I have a new MBP with no firewire port. Is there a connector or gender changer that I can get to load my footage?

Yes, there is a FW to USB (whatever version) you can get. The most reliable are from Apple. I've seen issues with third party adapters.

Just be aware that the link Ben posted is to an original Thunderbolt connection and if you have the latest MBP you'll likely need one that is Thunderbolt 3 (same shape as the USB-C port) - So you either want a Firewire to Thunderbolt 3, or if you can't find one of those, maybe a Firewire to Thunderbolt then also a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 to get it into your computer.
