I was wondering what would be the best way of handling my media/libraries with my current hardware for FCPX.
Internal SSD: R/W speeds of 650/650 MB/s.
External USB 3.0 enclosure in which I stick a 500GB 7200rpm drive: R/W speeds of 140/120 MB/s. (I know it'd be ideal to get myself a thunderbolt 2 raid0 setup, I just can't afford it right now.)
1. I started off by having both my media and my library in the SSD. The thing was FAST.
2. I then read how convenient it is performance-wise to have your media in a different drive, so now I have my Library in my SSD and my media in the 7200rpm drive. (So I import from the 7200rpm drive into the SSD (optimized)). This setup seems slower to me. It feels more.. sloppy, I don't know how to describe it.
3. I've considered doing the opposite, having my media in my SSD and my library in my 7200rpm drive. Haven't tried that yet.
