Sometimes when I shut down or restart I get the message when I start or restart, " the computer was shut down because of problem" nothing else. The the computer goes into loop restarting with the same message, maybe three times, then ok. By ejecting all external drives Before I shut down the computer I do not get this message. I am interested if someone has similar experience.

I'd have local Apple store check it out. Could be a bad port. I shut mine down and boot it often without issue.

There seems to be some issues about this on other forum. It is strange that ejecting externals should solve this for a moment. It would good if you could report back about this.

I know that when a drive goes to sleep, OS X seems to loose all of the Spotlight index data for it.
