SNØW is an easy to use, free generator for FCPX:
After download and install, you should find in your Generators Tab a new category: ks, incl. SNØW



It is based upon two particle emitters, Motion comes with. I modified it a bit and rigged a few parameter to make handling more convenient.
HINT: There’s tons of computation needed, on smaller systems, like mine, there’s no real-time preview possible.

fyi downloaded and installed it 2-3 times, closed fcp a couple of times too but doesn't show up under generator. Maybe same issue as last time ?

And, in Finder, goto Computer/Users - you will find a folder named '-' - delete that...

Looks nice, but you did warn us: it's sløw. First time FCP X on my maxed out 5k iMac beachballed. After restart, connecting it over a timeline clip it ran at approximately 3-4 fps.

The new Installer v1.1. should now work correctly …

I bought the iMac for 4k. Main difference to my 2009 MP is that it handles native mpeg4 codecs well due to Quicksync. And disk speeds are better through thunderbolt. What do you edit on? Curious to learn if anyone with a big fat trash can has realtime with your SNØW.

Anyway, it's looking good, and whenever I need to add some snowflakes to a clip, I have them. Thanks!

MacMini (2012)/16GB/2.5GHz, 500GB intSSD and several extSSD… macSierra
4k/original mp4 no prob, 4x4k Multicam? … a bit lame (switchOFF the angle-viewer does the trick!)

ok, no dedicated GPU … a 5k iMac with 4GB GPU <sigh> would be a dream… but my other hobby (=my son) is expensive........
considering to sell some forthcoming plugins for 5€. More on that later this year.
