How to Move a Final Cut Pro Library to an External Drive on Your Mac 02 Jan 2023 20:41 #123467
I agree, it is obvious. The answer I'm looking for is regarding the best practice for performance. I have a Mac Studio with the Apple M1 Max, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD and an 6TB LaCie external HD through Thunderbolt port. My 6TB of media are on the external, configured to leave files on the storage. however, I'm no sure as weather the libraries should be on the external as well or on the internal. What is the best practice regarding this?

Hmmm...I'm a newbie and thought I didn't come here to learn this today, I did find this useful. I am actually just about to start moving libraries to an external drive and just figured I could drag them over without doing these other tasks.

Not sure what the point of the second consolidate is if you already consolidated on the system drive. Also not sure what render or other media you could consolidate on the external if you deleted generated files.
