A possibly handy generator that provides a way to animate the "build" of a grid - OK, so probably not all that useful all that often, but hey, it's free and quite fun to use!

Yes and honestly it is generators like this that provide greater artistic possibilities. Thanks much Simon.

I love it. The first animation is actually quite beautiful as they come in like a wave. I suppose with a bit of adjusting the number of lines, one could get perfect squares...

I'll try..

thanks Simon

Hey, glad someone liked it!!! Actually the way it works is that the grid is perfect 16:9 rectangles!

But yet you can use a calculator and get the ratio to work as squares ... I suppose I should have thought of that. ;)

And now here's a version with squares for the grid instead of 16:9 rectangles.

Note you can get a nice effect if you check the Shuffle Order checkbox which randomizes the animation as in the second example in the video.

Ask & ye shall receive.

You are just too much, Simon, but in a good way!

I was thinking squares would be cool with an overhead zooming satellite type Google earth shot, coming down on a sector of topography, then the grid comes in as military type jargon is rattled off. Implying we have every square inch monitored for their activity...

hehe

Fun fact: although the number of lines seems to be limited to be 20 by dragging the sliders, you can have many more lines by entering higher values.

I'll be the first to join you in thanking Alex for his inspiring ingenuity and amazing generosity, but ...

... this particular effect was actually one of mine for a change ;)
