although, personally, I don't like rented software …

as an addendum:
we discussed a similar effect a while ago, I called here 'future freeze':

Question: When you say rented software are you referring to Adobe Photoshop? :woohoo:

Cool future freeze.... I am considering buying motion and this effect would be cool to do as well. Although I think my technique gives you a few more options to play around with from the isolated layer?

yep.
AP is a superb and powerful tool, no doubt, but I'm a hobbyist = renting software doesn't pay for me, and e.g. Pixelmator fulfills my needs by far. Or, even the MagicWand in Preview.app often does the trick either…
