Optimize El Capitan for FCPX was created by tedtv
Does anyone know of any tutorials, video or text, online that provide steps on optimizing El Capitan OS for FCPX editing? I'm using FCPX & El Capitan on two systems with the following specs:
Mid 2010 Mac Pro
2.8ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon
32GB RAM
Dual ATI RAdeon HD 5770's (just one. Other is running single Sapphire HD 7970)
External Sans Digital SATA RAID at JBOD (moving to SSD internally soon)
Also. Should I bump RAM up to OWC 48GB? Will it make a difference if graphics cards are blazing?

I seriously doubt increasing RAM over your current 32 GB would be worth the money.
Not really much of anything you have to do in EC. Upgrade, edit away. Be sure your 3rd party plugins/apps are all EC compatible, but that's about it.

When it was vision 10.11.0 it was too soon. Most all 3rd parties have upgraded their plugins and apps, and with 10.11.2 the pro apps all work fine. I actually see performance improvements. EC is pro app safe now, and requires no OS optimizing. There's basically nothing to tweak.

I have two systems and wanted to experiment with one fully. Second system has a Yosemite ready HD and also EC ready HD. Dual boot basically. FCPX editing is fine on my Mid 2010 other than just a tad more spinning wheels. Any are too many but I can still get work done.

You are correct! Actually no horror stories except one small one I just ran into. It seems that all my undo abilities are gone? Not sure what FCPX has in the number of undo's but with most software you can undo a lot. I've done up to 15 in the past. However, in FCPX 10.2.2 under El Capitan doing a command-z give the audio error boing sound. Under edit undo stays grey. SMH

I don't have, and have never heard of that issue so far. I suspect you have a 3rd party audio plugin that isn't updated for EC yet.
Or delete prefs.
Or repair drives.
Or delete with FCS Remover and reinstall.
I have very much increased performance and stability with FCPX and EC.
