Advanced Color Grading in a FCPX was created by champ5mic
In August 2013 I decided that I would start to do short films and a web series. I knew that I wanted to use FCPX exclusively for these projects as I was one of those people who forced myself to learn it and use it daily. Since then I have definitely seen the light with it and with the 10.1 update I feel FCPX is the greatest editor ever.
To go along with these projects I decided to start doing tutorials as I complete them. Here is one entitled "Advanced Color Grading in a FCPX" using some footage from my upcoming web series Harley (See intro video below). Let me know what you think. Feedback and constructive criticism is very much appreciated!

so, here we go
First of all: English is not my native tongue - my criteria on spoken English are most probably 'different' to others.
I would consider to re-phrase the first 30-60sec of audio - wayyyy too cool :woohoo:
You lost me (=old man)… perhaps my lil' son would appreciate it…
Plus, there's some annoying 'clipping' in your audio-track, it sizzles in the peaks - or YouTubes fail?
A very nice recap of tipps, I've seen single in other tutorials (e.g. that crop-to-find-skintone I've seen before @Larry Jordan…) … Excellent demo how important the scopes are for grading - Thank you for reminding me! Grading is not only by sight, but by numbers too…
Anything beyond correction #2 includes too much of "try this, try that" (e.g. applying a mask) - I prefer a more "straight-to-the-point", a more prepared presentation … which btw would make it shorter. The two guys of ripple-training, Steve&Mark, set the benchmark.
Last critique:
In my humble understanding (=me enthusiast hobbyist!), what you're doing there is more 'look' than 'grading'. The real marvel - for me - begins, when you're able to apply the same 'look' to diff. scenes, diff. recordings… how to make two clips 'fit' which were taken in diff. light situations?
… anyhow: Thanks for sharing! Looking forward for next episodes…

Thanks for the feedback my friend! For my future tuts I have started writing a script or guideline to follow so I can streamline it a bit more. Usually when I am showing people things that I do we are usually just talking casually so I approached the video the same way so I can understand you issue with the beginning
. In my next tut I will be matching that scene to another in the bathroom that wasn't properly white balanced. It will definitely be shorter! Thanks for taking the time to watch and critique!
