I need help from someone who is skilled with automator / possibly custom scripting.
We have projects in edit across multiple machines and drives. The video files are all backed up, but we need the *.fcpevent and *.fcpproject in-progress files to be backed up daily to a dropbox account.
The script gets complicated because every project has the same filename! > currentProject.fcpproject < So simply backing up all the files will create lots of confusion in the future.
So we need a script that will search the machine & connected drives for all event/project files and copy them (overwrite) to a specified drive, keeping the parent folder structure in-tact, or worse-case, renaming the new files to include Parent folder names.
Can anyone put me in contact with someone capable of writing this script? I'd be happy to compensate for the time, and even share the script when completed in case this would help anyone else's workflow.

Creating history....one edit at a time !

You might just check out a cloning program like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. I believe you can customize their backups to keep in-tact, or overwrite files based on date and specify dedicated backup locations. Certainly automator could also do this but the backup program might provide other things useful to your workflow.
