Hi!
i usually use my imac i7 to edit with FCPX but the export time, often are very long...
so i thinking to use my macmini i5 (used as mediacenter so it is often unused) to help my iMac (both are in a gigabit net)...
but how can i make this?
I need to install compressor on both macs? and how configure it?
thx

Qmaster is a Compressor specific application, thus you need Compressor installed. Qmaster is pretty easy to set up now. The Compressor user manual has all of the information you need.

Thanks!
I follow this page:
help.apple.com/compressor/mac/4.0.5/#cpsr9b983c19
and i setup the imac as cluster controller anche the macmin as service node... it is correct?
When i submit an export i have only "this computer" in the cluster and not "this computer plus"...
i think that i make some mistakes....

Personally, if I wasn't on XSAN, I'd not bother.
If I wasn't on really HUGE projects, and a LOT of them, I'd not bother.
What is the specific workload you're looking to have transcoded daily?

Are they both on the same wired (wifi won't work) network?

Tes, the macmini and imac are on the same gigabit network...
my main use are weddings and music videos, conferences ... maximum 120 minutes
but often, especially in conferences that are long ... I use filters to reduce noise (neatvideo) and rendering takes a lot!
I think the ability to render on two mac decrease the waiting time, because they are also a i7 and an i5
