I want to go from 1080i 29.97fps to 1080p 25fps was created by Speros
I am working on a short movie.
My 5hours footage shot with a Sony hdv Fx1 1080i 29.97fps.
I want to get a smoother look and decided to edit in a 25fps timeline (fcpx).
The desired output is 1080p 25fps.
Is that right? Is it so simple. I've done 3 months of work without a problem but yesterday i read somewhere that is not so simple. Am I going to have problems after exporting?
Do I need to do a specific process to de-interlace the footage?
I'm completely lost.
I've lost my sleep and I'm afraid I will lose 3 months of work.
Can someone explain to me? I'm a newbie.
Thanks in advance

I recently done a project with interlaced footage in a progressive timeline for progressive export.
In the "Even Browser" I selected the relevant clips, I changed the inspector to "Settings View", and changed the "Field Dominance" to the relevant order. In my case "Upper First"
Then I edited away and FCPX taken care of everything nice and easily and got a lovely clean export.
I've never worked specifically with 29.97fps in a 25fps timeline, but I've also found that FCPX handles different frame rate source footage in timelines very well. The project I mentioned above was 29.97i in a 24p timeline.

Its just a matter of finding the right settings. But you shouldn't have a problem.
