Looping Emitter? - how to fake/simulate? 28 Jan 2021 14:15 #112385

I have to make a little looping :10 GIF, and I came up with a super cool tweak of "Aurora" as part of my BKG. The issue is that the colors/shapes don't match (duh) at the beginning & end because it's wonderfully random generator, that moves directionally.

My initial thought was to duplicate the beginning section, then shift it to the last few frames and blend it to create some "overlap", so at least the cut isn't so jarring. But this is creating a mess of keyframes, opacities, and blend modes. It's not terrible, but…

That's my best idea so far, and was wondering if there's a better answer. It's just going to be a :10 little loop, and I realize it's not going to be 100% perfect. All I need is to smooth the "jump" when it starts looping again.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Old school trick that works well. Cut the clip in half, swap the left and right halves, place a cross dissolve between them, place that into a Compound. Then the first and last frames will match exactly.

That's really elegant, actually. I ended up with something similar… but too clever by half, lol. It looked pretty good, but this is a much better solve. Thanks!

About 2 decades ago I sold (on SD DVD) a collection of abstracted animated backgrounds for wedding videographers. All composed in Motion. This is how I made them all into seamless loops.
