I really can't believe that Motion is not able to generate a simple line style wave form (similar to a sine wave) but is not a set of bars. Refusing to use the PFS plugin.
Interesting that Motion will show in the Animation pane exactly what I want but won't create it on screen. Would appreciate any fresh ideas. |

Have a look a the oscillate behaviour - it looks like you might have the 'noisiness' turned up

Peter, the image is actually what I am trying to accomplish but can't seem to figure out how to get there.

The elusive waveform generated by audio 29 Nov 2020 23:15 #111120
Hi John, I’ve worked out a way to do this - waveform drawing on - shape reflecting the music. Essentially create a small circle (the diameter will be the thickness of the trace) and make that into a particle emitter. Reduce the Emission Range to 0 and then attach a rate behaviour (set to around 70px to start with) to the x position to drive the emitter left to right. Attach the audio behaviour to the y position and set the Apply Mode to Add and Subtract. The Scale parameter in the Audio behaviour determines the height of the trace. Make the particle life a large number unless you want the left side of the drawn waveform to start to fade out. Set Initial Number to 0 and the adjust the birth rate up until you get a smooth trace. Emmision angle needs to be set at 180 or it draws on backwards. I have a Motion file that I can send you if you email me at ian at ianstubbs dot com.
best, Ian. |
