A question about changing the scale size of a composite clip

Hey guys,
Sometimes when I take a clip (just for example, quite a few clips from the good people at Motionvfx) and decrease the scale size, there is a noticeable square around the clip. I know the reason why this is the case is because the clip is probably mean't to only be displayed in the original resolution. My question is if there is a way to reduce the appearance? I've played with opacity, different blend modes, and some masking, but not having much luck. I've included a link of the screenshot I took in my Dropbox account.

Got it figured out! Had to dabble with masking the edges of th clip, and making sure I it's also feathered.
