Broken Function?? was created by Scott Markowitz
I thought I have done this in the past, but I'm struggling to get it to work in the latest update:
Using a dropbox as a source, I have created a replicator and have turned off "play frames"
Works great inside Motion... I get a sequence of the source's frames in the replicator cells. Good.
Publish to FCPX 10.2- It doesn't respect that the "play frames" check box was turned off, and it plays all the frames in each replicator cell over the course of the effect.
Has anyone else seen this? Any thoughts on getting it to work right?
Or is this just a bug?

I believe it was always like this. Not all of Motion's functions are supported inside of FCPX.

Hey Ben.
I know it has worked in the past. I made a cascading tile effect that grabbed frames from a compound clip in FCPX.
The motion file is missing, so I can't take a look at it.
I don't remember if I built that effect using a dropbox or if I made a straight effect to apply to a compound clip.

So, you turned off Play Frames, and turned on Random Start Frame, correct?
You're making a Replicator, not an Emitter, correct?
It actually should work this way.

I turned off Play Frames. In this case, I left Random Start Frame OFF. (The idea being that I should be able to rearrange the frame timing in edit to control individual image placement in final comp)
I'm making a Replicator.
It seems to be a bug. I've notified Apple via FCPX Feedback about it.

It works fine for me. But you have never been able to make each replicated shape a sequenced frame. It is all the same, or random. Always been that way. I don't see any bugs.
