Hey,

I have a problem with changing motion speed in Motion 5. I´m designing a lower third package. In the design a line is dissolved mid screen and then moves down to halt for a short while on top of the lower third, then moving down over the lower third at slower speed reveling the name and title. I can get the line to move down and rest upon the lower third rectangle, but when I try to restart the line and move it in a slower speed all I get is a continuous motion from mid screen to bottom of the lower third. I think I need to make a new starting point but every time I try that it connects with the previous keyframe and the motion becomes continuous. Thanks in advance.

OK, so you manually make a keyframe at your starting position.

You move the playhead to where it moves next, adjust, you have a second keyframe, automatically created since you're changing the Position Y value.

Now you want it to rest for a moment before moving again, so you have to move the playhead to that position in the timeline, and manually create a new keyframe. Since nothing changes, no keyframe gets made automatically.

Then move the playhead again, move the line to the new position, and since that parameter value is different, a new keyframe is automatically set.

Does that help?

Thanks Ben,

It helped, And presented a new prob, when the line moves after it´s hold it bounces of it´s resting place. There is no new keyframe it feel´s like this is a preset when something "removes". It´s driving me boonkers. As always all help is appreciated.

That's simply interpolation. Right-click the keyframe in the timeline, select "Show In Keyframe Editor". There, select your position parameters all at once, open the menu (little arrowhead to the right of the parameter names), go to Interpolation, and set it to linear.
