Motion template in/out drop zone problem

Motion template in/out drop zone problem was created by muddygun
I have seen this problem crop up on many other people, and I think mine is the same problem but i am not quite sure. So here is the scenario. I have a 2 minutes and 26 second motion timeline. My first video starts at the 26 sec mark and ends at :54 secs. the next video starts after that and then a third starts after that until the timeline ends at 2:26. So, i publish with 3 drop zones for FCPX as a generator. I find the trusty template in FCPX and put my video in and crap...its a still frame. I read on forums, people say drag from the browser window and not the timeline, have an in point, make it a compound clip, don't make it a compound clip. I pretty much tried everything. The only thing that seemed to work was adding a whole bunch of black to my compound clip until i needed the video to play. What i am assuming is happening is FCPX is reading when the motion template starts and thats the time it decides to play the placeholder video. But, I wanted it to stat :26 into the motion template and not :00 sec into it. Can anyone confirm this? I am not on my normal computer, but i assure you there are no 3rd party plugins and i am running 10.1.2 and 5.1.1. Frame rate is also the same. I also tried alex4d's loop marker trick.....nothing.

I think it matters where the playhead is and where you click when choosing the drop zone media. I have better luck putting the source media in the timeline and making it a compound clip before adding it to the drop zone. Then I can delete it from the timeline.
I know some of use are still boycotting these guys, but see if this has some possibly related info...

a helpful video but it still didn't fix my problems. my generator is longer than the video clip. Their video clip was long and their generator was short. I think the video still starts at the first frame of the motion template and not the first frame of the desired drop zone.
