Motion Motion tracking with Mocha was created by Disproportionate Pictures
Hey All, though maybe specifically Ben, who I know uses Mocha for Camera tracking in Motion.
I'm having some serious issues with some camera tracks in AE using the built in Camera Tracker and I'm contemplating whether I'll get better results from Mocha's Planar tracker.
Here's my question- can this planar tracking data get imported to a Motion 3D camera? And if so, which version of the product do I need to purchase?

Both mocha AE v3 or mocha Pro v3 can export to Apple Motion, but neither supports the Motion 3D camera. Only 2D tracking for scale, transformation, rotation and corner pin.
For true 3D camera and null export, mocha supports After Effects, Flame, Smoke, Nuke and 3D sfw that imports FBX file format.
You sure you need a 3D camera export? If you do, the best best is to do a trial of mocha AE v3 and export to After Effects CS5 or CS6.
Cheers,
Ross Shain

I think I do for this job. i need to place "Fringe'esque" text into a scene.
But I have AE CS6 so If my attempts with Camera Tracker don't fare any better than the built in AE one, then I'll be visiting your site tomorrow.
Can you explain why pushing motion track data to Motion isn't possible? Is it a time/money thing, or is it just impossible at this stage?

Yes this is a good question... which might in light some ideas why we won't be seeing any Cinema 4D support in Motion like After Effects just received!

Imagineer Systems does support 2D tracking export to Motion. (see this video:
www.imagineersystems.com/videos/using-mo...-apple-motion-5/view
)
For 3D camera tracking, mocha Pro's 3D tracking export format is FBX. Beyond creating custom exporters to support After Effects and HitFilm, Imagineer chose FBX as a common 3D file format to support the most systems. Currently, mocha's FBX can be imported to Nuke, Flame, Smoke, C4D, Maya, etc.
Since we released 3D tracking support, we have not had many requests from Motion users looking for mocha to support Motion 3D camera. I can not promise anything, but demand usually dictates whether we spend the resources on supporting various systems. If this is a feature you request, feel free to log a feature suggestion here: www.imagineersystems.com/contact_form
