@danny1 - all set.  These took a fair bit of time to process and I was concerned that something wasn't quite right, but the translation seems to be complete and intact.

Greetings, I know this comes years later, but would you still be able to perform this miracle conversion? I have just received an fcp file from a client to update the video and have no way of opening it.
Thanks so much for any help.

Thanks so much - really kind of you. A lot of info there and the file etc lists and screen shots really handy. Working well in new FCP, much better than standard xml in Premiere.

Thanks again for your time. Best regards, Danny

@Crispiwan - As long as you've got the original media to relink to, it should work.  Just need the .fcp file, and it would help to know which NLE you plan to use to finish.  You could attach the file directly here in the forum, or post a download link.

@danny1 - Glad I could help!

Thanks so much! I have all the original footage, yes. And I will be working in either Resolve or Premiere Pro for the final update edit. Probs Premiere. Really appreciate you coming to the rescue. Attaching file for you here.

Attaching file for you here.

Unfortunately, your attachment didn't post.  Might need to zip it, if you haven't already.

Maybe not... could be you're missing a step in the attachment process.
I don't know if you can attach files using the Quick Reply field, I always hit the Reply button to get the advanced editor with the Attachments button directly below.

Once you hit that button, drag the file to the area directly under it.  Another button appears that says 'Insert All', which you want to do.  Once that's done, your Submit button is below the Attachments section on the left.  Here's what most of that looks like in Safari:

Okay, let's try this again. Have dragged the file into space below where it says to drag files. Have clicked the "Select All" button. Am now going to hit "submit". And pray...

I've got some tight deadlines over the next week or so, unfortunately it'll be a minute.

I did notice, @MrMindworthy, that you've got 53 project files in that zip - I don't mind doing the odd favor for forum members, but that's easily a full day's work (maybe more). It's not an automated process, and I do it in my free time (ha!). If you're in a rush, I could work out an estimate. If you're not in a rush, I'll get to them as time allows.

Thanks for your understanding.

No rush at all for me. These are just home movies I wanted to see again for sentimental reasons. The kid is off to college. 😢

I converted those for you. Let me know if you need a modern version suitable for the current/recent FCP.
