Turning off Rate Conform in FCP X

Hi there,
Can anyone give me advice on rate conform in FCPX?
I have a 25fps timeline but can't turn it off. My video files are 25fps, so it doesn't need the process.
Can't seem to turn it off, as it's trying to conform to 24fps, which I don't want.

Best,
Dean

Hey Dean,

Are you saying that your 25p clips are showing up in your 25p timeline as 24p clips? I've never heard of that happening before.

In what context is FCP trying to conform your 25p footage to 24p, and how can you tell?

Hi,

They are showing ok as 25fps clips on a 25fps timeline,
but on rate conform, it is saying they are conforming the clips from 25 to 24, and the tick box cannot be unticked.

I just want to find how to turn off rate conform completely on all my projects.

Rate conform is set per clip, from the timeline, and only becomes visible when the clip and the timeline aren't the same frame rate. Further, you only see the 25 / 24 rate conversion when you put a 25fps clip in a 24fps project (or 24 in 25).

You originally said that your 25p clips in a 25p timeline were showing as rate conformed to 24, but I can't get this to happen on my rig - don't even see the option. If you're seeing a greyed-out 25 to 24 conform, you're looking at a 25 clip in a 24 timeline.

As far as I know, there isn't a way to disable or turn off this conversion, but you can override it by retiming the clip manually. For a 25p clip in a 24p timeline, set your clip speed to 104%. For 24p clips in a 25p timeline, set them to 96%
