Current best way to align separately recorded audio to video (acoustic guitar)? was created by bhuether
Hi, I recorded myself playing a piece on guitar. It is a Bach piece that I play slightly differently every time I play it, letting the timing breath. I don't record using metronome, nor would I want to.
I recorded multiple camera angles, not simultaneously. So I have 4 video files, and I edited to create my video. I also recorded the piece separately in one take using external mic. What I would like to do now is replace the video audio with this higher quality separately recorded audio. That means the audio has to be sync'd to the video audio so that it will be time aligned and my playing (hand movements) will be in sync.
Any idea on best current practices for that sort of aligning? I use Logic as my audio program.
thanks

Hello,
Simplest and fastest is to clap your shot. FC will synchronize both video and audio.
If you haven't clapped, then you need to find a relevant part where audio sticks out and align video and audio sound waves. Turn off video audio and save this as a compound clip.
You will need to do this with every video clip.
Might be another way. I don't know if this is best practice !

You want to align multiple clips (same song but different takes/timing/angles) to an audio track that is also a different take.
There is nothing here that can be automated, you'll need to align each clip in your edit manually.

Red Giant has / had a product Plural Eyes 4 which is what I use when timecode's not available. (Band shoot just last Sunday using A7Siii & H6n Recorder.) Handy in that it also corrects for audio drift and will import directly into FCP.
I did read recently where they've discontinued development on the stand alone app but knock on their web door and see if it's still available.

I'm not sure that would work in this case. There aren't any two angles that were recorded at the same time, so each angle is a completely different take with timing and phrasing differences throughout. No common audio betwixt 'em, and all synced to yet another separate studio take.

As DMETZ said. I think you have to do this manually.
This is what I meant in my post.
