I was wondering if anyone had any DNxHD footage that they would be willing to upload somewhere for testing purposes only. A minute of material would be great. Frame rate doesn't matter. Any HD format. I'd really appreciate it.
BTW I just checked the encoded footage, it will play in VLC not Quicktime. Won't import to FCPX 10.4.8, but will import to Premiere and Resolve. Re-wrap with EditReady2 adds a QT wrapper but it still won't import to FCPX. There are many DNxHD export presets. Let me try a few more things...
Tom, if your goal is an editable file in FCPX, I'm not sure what flavor of DNxHD is required. I tried OP1A, OPAtom, DNxHR SQ, DNxHD 10 bit, etc, but none will import. I tried both FCPX 10.4.6 and 10.4.8 on both Mojave and Catalina, with latest Apple Pro Video formats. Obviously people are using that otherwise the initial statement (and later retraction) of dropping DNxHD support in Catalina would not have been an issue.
If you can tell me what DNxHD parameters are needed, I will do that.
OP1A would be great. It's taking we a while to download. Seem to have internet issues at the moment. I had some DNxHD in Mojave that worked in 10.4.6. Wonder if the new Pro Video Formats changed something.
The one your are downloading is OP1A, however on my machines only Premiere or Resolve will import it. I don't have any Avid codecs installed. I'm using Pro Video Formats 2.1.1, which is the latest.
It's in an MXF wrapper but inside that is the DNxHD codec. The question is where support from that comes from. I thought it was in Pro Video Formats but maybe that changed or maybe only specific flavors are supported.
Thanks Ian. If you could leave it there for a couple of weeks that would be great. I just started a long trip and wouldn’t have computer access for a while. If you can’ti understand, but thank you very much for your kind offer.
