I am trying to edit out me from an aerial video clip. I was using a UT vid as a guide. I did this once awhile back but am having problems today. Sometimes I cannot keep myself out of the frame for various reasons and I have to resort to a removal.

I duplicated the clip and dragged the video effect draw mask to one clip. I was able to click the draw mask points at the start of the clip and the mask is covering the main part of the clip vs the small portion.

I do not see in the effects panel a draw mask panel. I see transform, distort and crop but not draw mask that Is mentioned in the UT vid. I want to invert the mask etc but for the life of me can not see how to add this panel.

So any help would be appreciated. Also does anybody have a suggestion other than core melt to make this process easier.

I am really surprised that somebody has not developed another solution to this problem.

I've no clue what "UT vid" is.

There is a Draw Mask in the effects browser, in the Masks section.

UT vid is shortened for YouTube video.

I have enclosed two screen shots which might clarify what I am asking.
One labeled YouTube... shows the 'panel' (if that is the correct term) I am looking for.
FYI here is the link that i am using as a training tool.

The second one is a screen shot of my vid. It does not have the 'panel' labeled Draw Mask. Somehow I was able to draw the points of what I want to edit but the selection masks the opposite of what I want to edit. The Draw Mask panel gives you the tools to invert it but I do not have that available.

I would assume that once I created that mask the panel would appear. In PS you have a window to open additional panels. I do not see a function similar to that in FCPX nor anything in the menu structure to open it.

My question is how do i get that panel to appear?

Where it says Effects slide the pointer to the right you show see a Show button that opens and closes Effects. Similarly there will be a button to open and close Draw Mask.

Thanks for your help. I would have never figured that out. All the Apple FCPX help and other resources do a good job explaining what each option does but not once did I see.

"If you do not see this panel " do what you suggested.

This forum is so helpful to a rookie like me that does not do a lot of video editing. I can not tell how much time I spent trying to figure this out before asking for help.
