Is there any point having iMovie as well as FCPX? Is there any sound effects or something like that that only go with iMovie? Or can I happily delete it and save 2.8gb of disk space?

PS - iMovie just got updated, that's how I realised I had it on my computer ;)

If you don't use it, delete it. You can always go back to the app store and reinstall it if you want. Yes, it has extra content unique to it, but if you don't use it, you don't use it. I use it on my phone and iPad often to do string-outs and such, then take that into FCPX for the heavy work. My kids use it. Wife does a gardening blog with it on her iiPhone.
