I moved a folder containing a Library and media to another hard drive. When I went to open the Library, I had to relink all my media which worked fine, but I am missing the Project. Attached is photo. All why other media is fine, and I can see the project itself as a timeline with all the media previews. I just get a red screen.
I looked around the web and this icon does not come up as any warning that I've seen examples of
All the other Libraries I put on new drive seem OK, after I relinked. The Library in question still opens fine on the computer that I copied from. I am re-copying that Library and will transfer to new computer. Maybe something corrupted during copy?????

OK. So I really don't have many effects at all, but I did place my Crumple pop effects and Quick and Easy effects in the exact location as they were on the old computer to the new one.I did notice that before this there was a note in the Inspector that there was a missing effect with it's name. That effect is now installed in proper place: User>Me>Movies>Motion Templates>Effects>Looks>Crumplepop. Restarted and relaunch, no love
What's strange is that if I play the timeline, all my audio plays.
One other thing I noticed is that the Library is about 40GB which I could not understand until I poked around the Package and noticed that there is Media in the package. Strange since I always choose to Leave in Place on import, since all that stuff is elsewhere on my hard drive. So how do I get rid of the media in the Library without breaking everything. Is this what is causing my problem?
I really appreciate this. Though this is an old video project, it is still maddening to have something like this happen.
Before you wrote you post, I actually tried to apply the one effect that FCP X says was missing. As mentioned I re-installed the effects in exact;y the same location as on my old computer, the one where this video project is normal. I applied effect to one clip in the timeline with no luck.
I also tried to render one clip (Render Selection) and the HUD showed that the render was happening, but in my Project timeline, the clip there remained un-rendered.
I then did as you suggested, selected a few clips in browser, Reveal in Finder, to find this:
Somehow there are some clips that got copied to the Managed folder in the Bundle, while some where symlinks. Totally weird.
So here is what I am wondering. Is there some way to "Rebuild" this entire thing by first getting rid of all clips that somehow made it into the Library Bundle which would make my 10 minute video go from 60GB to something much smaller?
Following that, could I then relink to the media that I have on another HD. Everything is in the same order as it was when copied from old computer.
I have multiple back ups of this entire mess just in case on thing we try or another doesn't work.
Bottom line, I think my Library Bundle is wigged out. Maybe start from scratch?
My happiness is in your hands.
katyandmarkus3003- I don't know who's phone number that is and I don't know if I just want to call without knowing I am calling a company or individual. Thanks though.
Since this is a quiet time of year for me, I decided to really dig into this and find out what is going on. I actually had two issues.
Issue 1) I noticed the size of some of my Libraries were quite large, into dozens of GBs. My routine (or so I thought) is to always work with files that were "Leave in Place" on import. I wanted to get rid of the "Managed " files in the Library since I did not need to double up on those. If I went to Delete Generated Files>Optimized/Proxy media and clicked OK, the file size of Library did not change and the "Managed files remained in the Library. Since I have multiple back ups of everything, I decided to do a little "Show Package Contents" surgery.
I went in and simply deleted anything that looked like a full size media file and trashed those. I left the Gym links as they were. As expected, this reduced my Library size substantially. And upon launch, everything is fine. So I did this with a bunch of older projects, perhaps before I really knew my way around FCP X.
So that issue is solved, but I wish there was a way to clear out a Library without having to go in manually and do that.
Issue 2) Actually this was what I originally started this thread about: the Missing something or other Icon on the Project of one particular project as mentioned in my earlier posts.
The only clue I had, and this was brought up by a few forum members here, there is a missing Effect. I also saw that warning in the FCP Inspector.
As mentioned in my earlier posts, I reinstalled my Effects, all two of them using the exact same path as they were installed on my old computer thinking that everything might just link up. Nope. I did a bunch of searching on the web for "FCPX Missing Effects" and I came across A MacBreak Studio video about missing effects that REALLY helped.
First I downloaded X-FX Handler (Thank You so much!) I tried that and ended up with a bunch of error messages about my XML file. In all fairness I think I was suppose to make the XML from the Event that the problem Project resided in.
I turned off the effect in the Inspector for a clip in the Timeline and just like that, everything was normal.
I concluded that even though I re-installed my Effects, things did not sync up in the Library. I manually re-added the effect to the clips in the timeline, and then deleted the "old" effect in the Inspector.
After a bit of time, I've got everything working perfectly. Purged my Libraries of all the disk hogging bulk and now I am good. Until things break again
Maybe this will help someone who is having any of this craziness.
Thats an option. But if there is already a command to delete Proxy and render from “Delete Generated...” which works, why is there no delete “original” from that list? Or delete ALL media from Library, but leave the sym linked items.
Also, some sort of plugin/effects manager would be nice. Off to feedback I go.

This is a good question. People often accidentally end up with media inside the library, when they really want only external "leave files in place". In theory if FCPX did not change the filenames or re-wrap the media during the copy, you should be able to select all clips then relink to those outside the library. However in my simple testing FCPX does not allow this.
What is the best procedure in this case? Any comments?
