Hi Guys,

I'm running latest FCP X on a 2013 Mac Pro.

Trying to export a project and the software gives me a little bleep and won't allow me to do it.

Does anyone know why this may be?

It's all rendered out and good to go..

Thank you !

Don't render before exporting, waste of time, unless you have some other reason to render a full timeline.

What "bleep" are you talking about? Not sure what that means.

But, launch FCPX holding both Opt and Cmd keys together to delete preference files.
In FCPX, select the Library in the Browser, File menu, "Delete Generated Library Files", then delete ALL render files.
See if that helps.

If I put a plug in like "neat video" on the footage, which requires a lot of time to render, and I click "Export" before it renders through, will FCPX do all the rendering anyway?

I was always worried if i exported before rendering everything through that the effects applied would not appear in the finished video. Can you advise?

I think my computer is telling me to f**k off

I figured it out. One of the videos in the finished video wasn't fully imported. It had that little camera icon on it, so I had to "reimport".

I find that importing can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Is there a way to get FCPX to warn me that a video hasn't been fully imported? Rather than just that little camera icon which is quite easy to miss?

Thanks for all your help !! x

Rendering the timeline does not effect the quality of an export. Totally unrendered timeline will export to a file just fine.

You do have an indicator about the state of background processes. Top left of the FCPX window, is a Background Task Indicator or Clock. It shows if background processes are taking place. Click on it, and you'll see the details. That will show you the state of importing clips and other processes.

That's great... I always used to wait for ages while neat video was rendering every clip in the bloody timeline!
Thanks for the tip.
