I have tried to share to blu-ray disc a project in fcp 10.2.3 the result is a very unstable pixilated image with severe pixilation across the top 20% of the frame. My project settings were 1080iHD, 1920 x 1080 25i.
Also tried it at 29.97i and through compressor and with a different burner with the same result.
The burn was on Verbatim BD-R 25gb discs.
Can anyone help me please, I am a novice so keep it simple if you can.

Hi Numpty, Welcome to the forums
Never had this issue, so think it is a fluke. Here are some things to try.
First do not attempt to export (Share) directly to BD inside FCPX. Instead use your desktop or a folder as the destination for a Blu-ray image file. Then burn separately either in the Finder (right click while a BD burner connected) or use a separate app like Toast Titanium. (Use copy, disk image file, must have BD support or Pro version of Toast)
If this doesn't work, delete rendered files, turn off background render, and maybe delete FCPX preferences by relaunching FCPX while holding down the Option and Command keys. Ok delete preferences.
Now re-export to desktop.
The last thing I would check is if you are using any 3rd party plug-ins make sure they are compatible with whatever version of FCPX and OS you use.
Are you creating Titles in the affected areas? If so try turning them off in Timeline (select Title clip and press "v" key). Now try to export/burn.

Anyone else seen this particular issue??

Hope this helps, Greg

I'd also suggest stop using Verbatim media, go with a different brand.

Export the project as a self-contained 1080 movie.
Does that exported movie play correctly in QT?
If no, you've got issues I cannot help you with, sorry.
If yes, burn it to a BD using any application you wish. You can bring the movie back into FCPX, use Compressor, or Toast, or others
Does the BD play?
If not, your disk burner's probably on the fritz. Try another burner or, if you ca't do that, try another brand of media.

If you save it as a disk image, which others here have recommended, you will be able to mount the img and go inside the BDMV package (right click > Shoe Contents) and from the STREAM folder play the m2ts file to see whether the artifacts appear). If they do appear, it rules out the media and the burner.
