OK, here's the thread to rag on how nice, or horrible, we all think the OS X 10.11 upgrade is. Specifically, how it effects FCPX. First up, don't upgrade until OS X 10.11.1, especially you Logic Pro X users, trust me.
Oh, Apple needs to have an update very, very soon. It seems both Core Image (according to Ars Technica) and Audio Unit Validation Tool ("auvaltool" and I've seen this extensively first hand) both are screwing up big time.
Logic Pro X is mega-unstable with tabs and other parts of window panes not showing, frequent crashes, auvaltool crashing left and right at start up, etc. Unless something changes with the official 10.11 public release.
I suspect we'll see a 10.11.1 bug fix within a week. At least I hope so. These have been known issues with the beta versions for a long time now. Surprised to see it go public with these major bugs in vital processes.
Well, I am sure you are right Ben, your advices have never failed me. But I am privileged to be a dedicated hobbyist so I can afford to experiment a little. Just finished a project so I have a clean table. But it looks a bit scary since this vital function is not fixed.
Still waiting for it to show up in my Updates. Come on Apple, you'd think beta testers got first shot at the public release, eh? Ah well, I have to go get a cup of whiskey and go mow the lawn. Yeah, like booze and power tools go together. HA! It'll be here eventually...

Hmm, I guess that makes it more palatable if one sees it more often?
The Air-play in safari and quicktime could be really useful, but in the future it would be great to se it com to FCPX so clients could watch you video without having to export it or having to crowd into the edit bay.
Also since I regular use stills in my projects it will be interesting to see what kinds of 'Photos' extensions are released.
Amen on Photos extensions. Where are they? Who's talking about development? Ugh...
Having run the last few beta versions, now I have the public version, things have changed.
New iTunes just froze up on me, force quit, yuck. But improved performance for the pro apps. Unstable things are now very stable. DriveX raw playback is smoother, tracks and renders faster. My copy of LPX still has some window panes missing tabs and such. But my MBP, LPX window is just fine. Color Finale still isn’t working for me on the MP, but the MBP is works fine. Someone did mention a Core Image issue, and that may be what I'm seeing. But more stability than any beta version, faster, just waiting on 3rd parties to catch up. Native Instruments, I'm talking TO YOU!!!!
How about the compiled list of Apps and Plugins that are having issues with Mac OS X 10.11 plus the issues and what causes it? I think it would be good to share out.
I haven't installed the 10.11 build 15A284 but two of the test workstations have been running fine with the Beta.
Only issues we had was with Affinity Photo, tools not responding and function has they should.
I can not see any difference compared with Yosemite. No performance boost maybe a second faster to launch is now 4 sec was 5 sec. Rendering: Not faster, sharing to master is slower if I have NEAT on one clip. But all works without crashes. So I wonder where this magic Metal thing is, or is it not there ?
