Want to remove jump cuts from interviews or other footage?
Here is a tutorial on what I am calling "Optical Flow Transitions in FCPX" that lets you smooth over jump cuts and more using the incredible power of optical flow. Here is the teaser as well as the tutorial here:
Once again thanks for sharing. Learn some new stuff from your tutorials. Great
Mentioned you have a ContourPro set for color correcting. Any chance of getting copy of templet? Really like using the Contour, like seeing other's ideas.
I haven't delved in to try yet, but do you guys think there may be a way to replicate this as a Motion built Transition to streamline the process a bit? Would the transition be able to maintain referencing those two frames and the retiming when published to FCP X? I haven't thought through how it might work yet, just popped in my head and I thought I'd throw it out there.
As of right now Optical Flow analyzes media only, i.e an quicktime clip, and there is no way around it. So a motion transition won't work. However, as I mentioned in the video please put in a request to Apple to ask for them to implement this as an actual transition.
Fully agree with Tim. This can be programmed at Core level but not as a Motion transition. Now if everyone would stop nagging Apple about adding new features the team could concentrate on programming just this one
I'm sure you're right, I just never thought of it. You said something in the video like "...go back to Keynote" and I was like Oh THAT'S what Keynote is! It's a Power Point thingy! But probably 10x better.
