I find myself wanting to rotate the Vignette in my projects. All I can get is a horizontal type. Anyone out there know of one that can do this?

OK, I changed the built-in Vignette from using Motion's Vignette filter, to using a shape mask. Now you can rotate it.

Think later this week I'll add other shapes and some somewhat refined controls.

Just add shape mask under Color Correction. No need to go through the trouble.

Using a shape mask and adjusting exposure, etc, color controls gives a bit of an odd look. It doesn't look the same, or as nice. IMHO

I second this. It's is how I do all my vignette work.

If I'm trying to turn a project around very quickly, I'll apply an empty text effect as an "adjustment layer" on top of all my video clips at once, and apply the vignette effect as BB has prescribed to that empty title.
When I'm working for a client that calls for more finesse (they have more money), then I'll use the shape masks and color correct the vignette more on a shot-by-shot basis.
It all depends on how you want to work, how much time you have, and managing your client's expectations.

Thank you everyone. Of course I usually figure these things out myself through fun experimentation, but this one had me stumped. Of course the answer is obvious now. Thank you.
