NewB here..Can anyone assist me with the best settings for FCX. I have a Imac 2.8ghz Intel Core i7, 4gb 1067mhz DDR3, ATI Radeon HD4850 512mb, OS X Lion 10.7.5......after working with FCX I'm frustrated...my audio never runs smooth...it hiccups while playing on the timeline.......

What's the audio specs? Best to be uncompressed 48k either AIFF or WAV.

You really could do with some more ram. 4GB is definitely on the low side.

Have you created either optimised or proxy media? How do they run?

Yes..my fcpx import settings are set to proxy and optimised....how about the fact I am moving mpeg2 files from a Tricaster 300 then unwrapping it so fcpx can import? (also not sure what fcpx file type to use when importing)

Has is actually created those files, or is it still creating them (which could cause things to be sluggish)?

What happens if you swap to proxy mode?

What are your performance / high quality settings set to?
