Final CUT wont load in the size of my video

I just downloaded all my old VHS recordings of my shows/films etc with the Elgato video capture device. I set the size at 16.9 and got MP4 copies with not bad resolution considering they were maybe 30 years old. The size came to 852 x 480 . But when I load this in it ends a square pic and dont see how to change the settings to keep the size in FCP as 852 x 480...or any ratio like that.....I have been trying to figure out for the life of me why I wont accept this size into the editing suite. Any ideas - Please help !

Post some screen shots of what you're seeing. You should work in a 720x480 anamorphic project. In 10.0.6 you can set the anamorphic override to make it widescreen. Really need to see what you're doing and what you're getting when you do it.
