FCPX can capture tape with Stop/Start was created by CBlakeston
Forgive me if this is common knowledge ? but I've never seen this mentioned anywhere.
I've been keeping a separate partition of Snow Leopard and FCP7 on my hard drive just to capture from HDV tape to split the clips up on capturing whenever recording has been stopped/ started.
The tape capture of FCPX only appears to have a simple manual capture and stop method of playing in footage. But playing around with camera archives the other day I was surprised to find FCPX can not only also separate the footage into clips - It goes one better and files them according to the the date and time each clip was shot as though they where recorded on a tapeless camera. It's also incredibly simple to use.
Just hit 'Create Archive' with the deck/ camera connected and the tape will automatically be rewound and played from start to finish. When it's done you'll have a camera archive file you can mount that will have your footage separated into clips as well as named according to the time and date the clip was recorded. I didn't even know that information was recorded to the tape.
Anyway, I'd not seen it mentioned as a function before so am writing about it here
