Cuba on the Move 25 Jul 2017 10:35 #89555
I'd like to introduce my latest travel film on Cuba: vimeo.com/220608624 Almost everything in that film is done in FCPX. FCPX offers a lot opportunities for creative cutting, for example the magnetic timeline or the handling of speed ramps. However, the jumping keyframes problem drives me nuts;) (PS: vimeo embedding seems not to be possible here?) ---

Breathtaking. Cuba is one of the places I definitely want to visit sometime and by watching your video I think I got a glimpse of what it's like. impressive what you can do with editing. Some cuts you made in the video were a bit too fast-paced but that's just nitpicking.

Hi Sally, thanks a lot for your kind reply! Yes, Cuba is definitely worth visiting! If you find the time I'd be interested to hear with cuts are to fast-paced in your opinion... as I spent so many time with the project, I lost the feeling with regards of some of the cuts...

When I try to set a keyframe to a certain spot it sometimes jumps to a totally random spot. This might depend on the settings of View > Clip Skimming and View > Skimming.
I recorded the problem here: vimeo.com/168641580/9b0b3fca9b ---

I already run FCPX 10.3.4. and the problem is still the same... even an new installation of FCPX didn't help... ---

I thought that was really good and watched it several times.
I don't visit Cuba (for the same reason I didn't want to be a tourist in East Germany, back then), but I enjoyed your presentation of it and I thought your many quick transitions were impressively creative and fun to replay - not too quick at all. And the music worked nicely! ![]() |

Many thanks, Blackburn! As I'm working on a similar piece (about Malta) and still feel a little unsure about the speed of the transitions, I really appreciate your feedback!
