Hi everyone from sunny Athens!

Art of Motion is a freerunning event taking place every year in Santorini, Greece. Last year, as part of the team I edited, mixed, graded and mastered this short film for Red Bull in FCP X. And yes it was footage overload!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Enjoyed watching that Nick. It was astonishing in terms of all the attention and work that it must have required, the staging of it very scenic, fun, and a challenge to make the most of, which it looks like you did.

I was wondering what the whole 'course' was like, and it was when the finals occurred that it became more clear - makes me think of other sports, like SuperG, where they often present the hill and its challenges at the beginning in order to the audience to better appreciate a run.

How many hours of video editing went into it?

Blackburn hello!

As you guessed, it was quite a complex project. It's great to get feedback from people not involved in the production and your thoughts on how the track was like is a nice idea to have in mind for this year. All five years this event took place we were shooting with a bunch of cameras for a whole week, plus the live 2 hour stream. Usually 600GB-1TB footage to sort through. We had a deadline of usually 8-10 days from start to finish for the whole 20' Highlight clip and usually stringed it towards 10 days for the mix and color. Thank you for all your kind words.

When you compress it down to a screenshot like that, it's interesting to review the film alongside. Watched those seconds around the 16 minute mark a few times just now and feel inspired to try similar layering.

I don't know exactly how you can make the course better explained to the viewer, if the contestants can do whatever they wish between start and finish and they choose to go in different directions. A bird's eye graphic with colored lines showing the different routes taken?
